The Sun is Dancing in the Sky | In Honor of Charlene Sun
Dear Charlene,
We’ve met before somewhere in the Sky before the Universe expanded.
You the Sun. I the Moon.
I believe this with my whole heart.
Here on Earth, I have met you in the stories that Rain and Nora share with me.
You are here with us as I continue your legacy with Rain, at SunRain Productions.
You were a wonderful person and you were with us today in the park with Rain, Jon, Pixel and me.
We chased the wind.
We laughed. We breathed.
We celebrated life.
You infuse our hearts with beauty and joy.
You are dancing in the sky.
Thank you for being in our lives.
I wish I could have heard your human laughter, seen your human eyes sparkle, touched your kind giving human hands…
But I feel your warmth and your spirit when the Sun beams down.
And I feel safe under the tutelage of your wings.
I picked out one of my photos from Thanksgiving and I am dedicating it to you, Charlene, in your honor.
Honed, forged, rising from fire,
kicked by the heel of the moon,
the sun bows on mountains, it’s stage.
With flare she dances,
enraptures, romances,
pirouettes, prances,
with brilliance that never will age.

Bogart | Good Night Sweet Prince
Good night sweet prince
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!
Adieu adieu.
Adieu oh radiant angel and friend.
Never enough photos but these are the best ones when you would let me take them.
I love you Bogart.
Max | An Angel Gets His Wings
Goodbye, Max
You are the sweetest cat.
<3
We had known of Max’s imminent departure over a month ago.
Yet, we posted his face all over Instagram and on the internet
in the hopes that your love
for his sweet face would overfill his heart.
Tilt the Max-o-meter!!!
And it worked!
Max stayed with us for another Thanksgiving,
and another Christmas with Rain, Jon, Pixel, and Buster…
Today Max left us.
He is free from pain.
He is free to roam the Universe,
Soak in the sunbeams, lick his paws, purr
As cats do…
But he will always be in our hearts,
Always at our feet,
Always warming our laps, our giant fur ball
Always perched on the back of the couch purring,
Always loving us from where he is now.
Nothing ever dies.
Because everything lives forever.
Jon rescued Max from the LA River years ago.
In turn, Max rescued us.
He did a loving job.
Happy Holidays!
A friend commented on my photos one day,
“Diana, you see so many wonderful things! I see the same s*** every day!”
I said to him,
“You need to keep your head up and look around. If you keep your head down and look at the ground, of course you see the same s*** every day!”
Keep your head up.
There is so much to see and experience.
So much to be thankful for…
Every day.

Bamboo
Today during my morning meditations I was reading a passage out of my 365 Tao book by Deng Ming-Dao
Chopsticks made from bamboo-
Too poor to afford silverware.
Tender bamboo shoots for food-
Too poor to afford meat. Why were people of old so integrated with their surroundings?
Because the objects that they used, the food that they ate, and
the activities that they engaged in were straight from their surroundings.
They used sticks made from bamboo as eating implements.
They used vines to make baskets. They used gourds as vessels.
For food, they grew plants, domesticated animals, and caught fish and game.
Their social structure was was built around the cycles of the sun, moon, and stars…
The closer we can be to the earth and to nature, the more integrated with life we shall be.
A few hours later I receive an email from Flickr notifying me that my Bamboo photo was chosen for the Huntington Library’s Photo of the Day.
I love my life :)
